GE Healthcare’s High Efficiency CT systems are designed to reduce electricity consumption for operation and ambient cooling by optimizing energy use based on a customer's usage profile.  The Optima* CT660 system and its associated site cooling systems consume approximately 55,000 kWh of electricity per year, about 15% less than the previous-generation GE Healthcare systems they replace. Using the innovative Energy Saving Mode software during evenings and weekends when it is not in use, the Optima CT660 can reduce annual electricity consumption by an additional 32,600 kWh, or a total of 65% per system compared to the previous-generation GE system. This can avoid 19.1 metric tons of CO2 emissions on the US grid per year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of approximately 4 cars on US roads.
