Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Digital Officer
Monish Patolawala joined GE Healthcare as Chief Financial Officer in May 2015. He was appointed Chief Digital Officer, in addition to his Chief Financial Officer role, in December 2017. Monish has a strong financial management background. He is responsible for providing leadership through driving the financial strategy and operational performance of GE Healthcare’s $18 billion business unit of General Electric, a business that provides transformational medical technologies and solutions to the global healthcare industry. Through both roles, Monish is leading the evolution of GE Healthcare’s digital strategy – and improving clinical, operational and financial outcomes for customers and the patients they serve.
Prior to this, Monish was Chief Financial Officer for GE Transportation, where he was part of the leadership team that transformed that business and delivered outstanding financial and operational results. During his time at GE Transportation, Monish helped transform the business from a North American “rail” division to global transportation equipment and solutions provider while at the same time increasing the profitability of the business. He also played a key role in the business’ expansion into adjacencies for growth, such as Mining, Signaling and Battery systems.
Monish began his career at GE in 1994 as a member of the Financial Management Program and was a member of the first group of FMPs to graduate from India. Over the years, Monish has held finance roles supporting sales, marketing and supply chain in C&I, Transportation, Healthcare and Water. In 2000, Monish was named the Manager of Finance for Refrigeration where he oversaw a $1 billion expansion of product offerings for the group. From there he became the supply chain Finance Manager for GE Lighting, the CFO of GE Motors and then CFO for GE Ionics as well as for North America for GE Water where he drove operational excellence and improved profitability of the North American region. In 2008, Monish joined GE Consumer & Industrial (C&I) where he was the CFO of Lighting and Industrial and helped improve the profitability, operational rigor and built the strategy for the long term success of both the lighting and industrial segments.
Monish is a certified Chartered Accountant with experience at KPMG prior to his time at GE. He holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce in Bangalore, India.
