Housing

Housing

If you are relocating, one of the first things on your mind is housing.  We have tried to make this quest easier for you by compiling a list of apartment rentals suggested by previous EIDs and GEHC Employees.  Please remember it is your responsibility to make your own housing arrangements.  When calling these places be sure to tell them that you are a college student working for GE.  This may make them more secure about you and perhaps earn you some leniency for short term housing.

The list below features Milwaukee/Waukesha area housing options, if you are relocating to a GEHC site other than Milwaukee/Waukesha please view potential options under All Other Locations.

Transportation

Transportation

It is highly recommended that you bring a car to your assignment.  There are obvious advantages to having your own car, but there are also some instances that most interns don’t think about.

For example, if you are relying on your roommate or another EID to take you to work, you may find out you have to be at work at 7 a.m. and he/she doesn’t have to be there until 9 a.m. Or they may be working at a different GE facility than you.

If it is impossible for you to have your own transportation, you can still get around but we recommend that you have your own car.  To aid you in your decision, below is a list of websites for area public transportation as well as a GEHC Mileage Matrix.

If you are relocating to a GEHC site other than Milwaukee/Waukesha, please view transportation options under All Other Locations.
