Overview

By the end of this program, the viewer should be able to: 

  • Discuss the historical aspects of patient safety initiatives.
  • Identify several organizations that drive patient safety initiatives. 
  • Describe Piaget’s stages of cognitive development. 
  • Indicate how knowledge of cognitive development can assist the radiographer/radiologist in obtaining  medical imaging examinations quickly and safely. 
  • Identify several measures for each stage of childhood development that opens communication between  the patient, parent, and caregiver. 
  • Describe a procedure to access the National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs). 
  • Identify several key aspects of the NPSGs as they relate to pediatric patient safety.
